2024 - Aberdeen City - Adult and Young Carers
Notice Description
Aberdeen City Council requires support services for both Adult and Young Carers who are resident in Aberdeen City. The overall aim of the services is to support people and enhance the experience of those who identify as a Carer. Ensuring that they have access to relevant information and that they feel respected, listened to, valued and involved. In doing all of this, the carer will feel able to plan, maintain and sustain their caring role and to live a life alongside caring. The Carers (Scotland) Act 2016, which came into effect on the 1st of April 2018 gives all carers new rights, under one piece of legislation. Fundamental to the delivery of the Carers Services is that the service is provided in line with the legislation laid down within the act as well as working alongside Aberdeen City Council, Aberdeen City Health and Social Care Partnership and relevant partners. The contracts will commence on 1 April 2025 and will operate for five years until 31 March 2030 plus the option for a two year extension. The maximum funding for Year 1 of the contract will be: Adult Carers Service - GBP721000 Young Carers Service - GBP206000 Funding for future years will be subject to any agreed sectoral uplifts.

Adult Carers Service

Ensuring that they have access to relevant information and that they feel respected, listened to, valued and involved. In doing all of this, the carer will feel able to plan, maintain and sustain their caring role and to live a life alongside caring. The Carers (Scotland) Act 2016, which came into effect on the 1st of April 2018 gives all carers new rights, under one piece of legislation. Fundamental to the delivery of the Carers Services is that the service is provided in line with the legislation laid down within the act as well as working alongside Aberdeen City Council, Aberdeen City Health and Social Care Partnership and relevant partners. The Adult Carers Service will work innovatively to co design services, within the eligibility criteria, which enable the early identification of carers; ensure accessibility to services and information; signpost opportunities to Carers; provide the necessary support to achieve individual carer outcomes and support carers to be involved in hearing their voice. The joint outcomes for the Adult and Young Carers services are as follows: -People in caring roles are supported to identify as carers at the earliest opportunity with equitable access to information and services. -Using a whole family approach, carers are respected, listened to and involved in their assessment, service planning, and reviews. -Carers are supported and empowered to develop and maintain their resilience to support and maintain their caring role. Carers are supported in their transition journeys. -Carers maintain a sense of self and are connected with their peers and communities, supporting a life alongside caring. -Services work collaboratively and innovatively across the wider system to ensure appropriate opportunities are available for Carers. -Services are adaptable and responsive to Carer Outcomes and data analysis, ensuring appropriate service levels. The contracts will commence on 1 April 2025 and will operate for five years until 31 March 2030 plus the option for a two year extension. The maximum funding for Year 1 of the contract will be: Adult Carers Service - GBP721000 Funding for future years will be subject to any agreed sectoral uplifts. Additional information: The maximum funding for Year 1 of the contract is GBP721000. The initial term of the contract is 5 years, with 2x 12 month optional extension. The estimated contract value of GBP5047000 is based on the maximum 7 years, i.e., 5+1+1 year period and is based on the Year 1 annual funding.

Ensuring that they have access to relevant information and that they feel respected, listened to, valued and involved. In doing all of this, the carer will feel able to plan, maintain and sustain their caring role and to live a life alongside caring. Young carers supported by the service will have access to tailored information and advice. They will also be supported through targeted individual or group activities which not only focus on them but also take a 'whole family' approach working with other agencies, including Health Visitors, School Nurses, Schools, NESCOL, Universities, Targeted Family Support and Fit Like Family Wellbeing as well as services working directly with the cared-for person. There is an interdependency between services and providers will be expected to work collaboratively to support for those transitioning from Young Carers to Adult Carers services ensuring they have support from whole system. The contracts will commence on 1 April 2025 and will operate for five years until 31 March 2030 plus the option for a two year extension. The maximum funding for Year 1 of the contract will be: Young Carers Service - GBP206000 Funding for future years will be subject to any agreed sectoral uplifts.
