Summary of the contracting process

The NEPO302 Supply of Gas Framework Agreement involves a procurement process managed by the Association of North East Councils Limited, based in Gateshead, UK. This procurement falls within the "Petroleum products, fuel, electricity, and other sources of energy" category and covers locations across the UK. The process currently stands at the "award" stage, having been recently completed with the contract signed on 17th September 2025. The competitive procedure with negotiation was the selected procurement method, aiming for the most economically advantageous tender for a single supplier and single-lot solution. The current framework is set to conclude on 31st March 2026, and it primarily focuses on trading gas on a flexible basis from the wholesale market. Additionally, the framework supports energy efficiency and includes services like Meter Asset Manager and Automatic Meter Reading.

This procurement provides significant business opportunities for suppliers in the energy sector, particularly those experienced in gas distribution and related services. It is well-suited for large-scale enterprises capable of managing extensive supply requirements—about 27 million therms annually across approximately 3,884 sites. The awarded contract with Corona Energy underscores the potential for substantial business growth through such agreements. For businesses looking to expand their market reach or engage in large-scale energy contracts, participating in NEPO’s procurement processes could prove advantageous. The comprehensive nature of the framework—addressing flexible gas trading, meter management, and energy efficiency—also opens avenues for innovation and service improvement within the energy sector.
