Leeds Suicide Bereavement Service is a peer support, postvention service commissioned as part of the Leeds Suicide Prevention Action Plan. Postvention supports people bereaved and/or affected by suicide to avoid long term negative health and social outcomes and plays a critical part in preventing further suicides. The service does this by providing timely peer support in a variety of forms including with individuals, families, and groups. The service provides postvention support in Leeds to people potentially affected by every suicide, including that of friends and relatives of people who die by suicide and who risk making a suicide attempt after their loss. This service allows vulnerable members of the public to have a clear pathway into receiving appropriate and timely support. The service is efficient in responding to outreach opportunities for prevention and in managing service user waiting lists and data sharing, which means more timely and effective support can be provided, it helps to provide better opportunities to identify potential clusters and prevent future suicide and harm.

Options: There is a extension available of 24 months in any combination.

Leeds Suicide Bereavement Service is a peer led, postvention service commissioned as part of the wider suicide prevention work and approach in Leeds. Postvention supports people who are bereaved and/or affected by suicide to avoid long term negative health and social outcomes and plays a critical part in preventing further suicides. The service does this by providing timely peer support in a variety of forms including for individuals, families and groups. There is an evidenced need for postvention support. The contract will be directly awarded to Leeds Mind via the Direct Award Process C provided under the Provider Selection Regime (PSR). Leeds Mind are considered able to meet the service specification requirements in terms of: * Being suitably experienced * Being embedded in local and regional real time suspected suicide surveillance systems to offer timely support to people affected and/or bereaved by suicide, including family, friends and witnesses * Have a history of successfully delivering outcomes within the budget envelope Leeds Mind have the infrastructure in place to deliver this service using a peer support model where staff have skills of using their lived experiences of being bereaved and/or affected by suicide to support others. Leeds Mind also deliver the West Yorkshire Suicide Bereavement Service - delivering both allows for the; minimise of service user disruption and waiting times; and the ability to alert and respond to potential clusters.",
