Summary of the contracting process

The Greater Manchester Combined Authority (GMCA) is in the planning stage to procure a contract for its Biowaste Treatment services. The planned procurement process is set to commence in late 2024. The service will encompass treatment of co-mingled food and garden waste collected from the kerbside across GMCA’s nine constituent local authorities. Key deadlines include the registration for the Market Engagement Day on 23rd August 2024, taking place in Central Manchester on 30th August 2024, and the final submission of the Soft Market Testing Questionnaire by 13th September 2024. This falls under the 'Sewage, refuse, cleaning and environmental services' category, specifically targeting waste management services within the UKD3 region.

This proposed tender offers significant opportunities for businesses within the waste management sector, especially those that can provide innovative and efficient biowaste treatment solutions. Companies specialising in environmental services, particularly those experienced in handling co-mingled organic waste, will find this tender ideal. Participation in this market engagement exercise will enable businesses to showcase their capabilities and influence the eventual procurement requirements, thereby aligning future opportunities with their service offerings and expertise. Such engagement can pave the way for long-term collaborations, expanding the business's portfolio and market influence in the regional waste management sector.
