Wolverhampton City Council has completed a procurement process titled "Open Access Sexual Health Services" under the health and social work services category (CPV 85000000). This initiative aims to provide comprehensive sexual health services, including STI prevention, treatment, and contraceptive services, with arrangements for out-of-area service provisions for Wolverhampton residents. The final award was made to NHS England on 12th August 2024, and the contract is valued at £1,285,000. The procurement was conducted using a limited method without prior publication of a call for competition, in accordance with the Health Care Services (Provider Selection Regime) Regulations 2023, reflecting specific needs and protocol requirements due to the essential nature of these health services.

Companies that can provide efficient and broad-access sexual health services, including community healthcare providers and NHS Trusts, would be well-suited to benefit from such contracts. The structured, fair, and transparent cross-charging policy framework ensures that suppliers are compensated appropriately, thereby fostering a stable and growth-oriented business environment for service providers. Businesses aiming to collaborate with local authorities for healthcare service provision stand to gain from the long-term and strategic nature of such contracts.
