Summary of the contracting process

National Grid UK Limited is initiating a procurement process for overhead lines and associated equipment and services, classified under the "Electrical machinery, apparatus, equipment and consumables; lighting" category. The procurement covers both UK and US framework agreements and has been divided into multiple lots to align with market capacity and capabilities. The revised deadlines for key stages in the tender process are 18 November 2024 for submission and 6 January 2025 for evaluation. The framework will cover installation, testing, commissioning, and maintenance activities. The total estimated value is approximately GBP 1.02 billion.

This procurement presents significant opportunities for businesses with expertise in electrical machinery and associated services. Ideal candidates include suppliers capable of delivering high-voltage AC cables, switchgear, phase conductors, and various types of insulators. Participation allows companies to secure long-term agreements, providing a stable revenue stream and facilitating growth within the electrical equipment and services sector. Suppliers will benefit from the flexibility of call-off contracts and working with a prominent entity like National Grid, enhancing their market reputation and expanding business operations across both the UK and US regions.
