Summary of the contracting process

The NHS Derby and Derbyshire Integrated Care Board awarded a contract for Digital Mental Health Services for Children and Young People to Kooth PLC. This procurement, under the Light Touch Regime of the Public Contract Regulations 2015, focuses on guidance and counselling services to improve emotional wellbeing and mental health for children and young people (CYP) in Derbyshire. Key objectives include providing early therapeutic interventions, self-care tools, and a secure online environment. The contract commenced on 15th March 2022 and runs for 3 years with an option to extend by 2 additional years. The service is designed to address the emerging mental health needs of CYP across the region, with special attention to vulnerable groups such as BAME, CYP with SEND, excluded CYP, or those in the youth justice system.

This tender presents significant opportunities for businesses specialising in digital health solutions, particularly those experienced in delivering remote counselling and mental health support services. Companies that can offer innovative, evidence-based digital interventions or platforms suited for young people's mental health would be well-suited to compete. Additionally, suppliers with a strong track record in handling sensitive data and providing secure online environments for patient interaction would find this contract beneficial for business growth. The collaboration with NHS Derby and Derbyshire Integrated Care Board could also pave the way for future contracts and partnerships in the public health sector.
