Summary of the contracting process

Hull University Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust is engaged in the procurement process for the "Provision of Electrophysiology (EP) Cath Lab Services - HUTH". This procurement falls under the healthcare industry category, specifically cardiology services. The contracting process was initially at the tender planning stage in October 2024, under a Provider Selection Regime (PSR), using a selective procurement method known as the Restricted Procedure. This process was meant to select the most suitable provider for outsourced cardiology services within the local area of the Trust in Hull. However, by April 2025, the provider selection process was abandoned, and no contract award took place. The procurement was valued at £1,000,000 and had a submission deadline of 23rd October 2024. This process was intended to conform to the Health Care Services (Provider Selection Regime) Regulations 2023, excluding the provisions of the Public Contracts Regulations 2015.

The tender presented opportunities for businesses specialising in healthcare services, particularly those with the capability to provide comprehensive electrophysiology lab services. Companies with the necessary infrastructure to support specialised cardiac procedures, such as Electrophysiology Studies, Ablation, and Pacemaker Implantation, would have been well-suited to compete. Providers needed to demonstrate proficiency through appropriate professional certifications and experience with NHS standards, ensuring adherence to national and NICE guidelines. Additionally, maintaining robust financial and economic standing was essential for participation. Although the tender process was eventually abandoned, such opportunities generally offer significant potential for business growth by aligning service offerings with the Trust's requirements, thereby expanding their portfolio of public sector contracts.
