Summary of the contracting process

The Department for Environment, Food & Rural Affairs (Defra) is seeking suppliers for the England Ecosystem Survey, a critical component of the NCEA programme aimed at assessing the condition of England’s terrestrial environments. This procurement, classified under environmental services (CPV code 90700000), is currently in the planning stage. The market consultation exercise is taking place via a Supplier Market Engagement session scheduled for the afternoon of 16th October 2024 from 15:00 to 16:30 GMT, held virtually through Microsoft Teams. Interested participants must register by 14th October 2024. The survey will cover various aspects such as habitats, vegetation, and landscape features across 1km² grid areas, with initial baseline samples established over the first five-year period.

This tender presents an excellent opportunity for businesses in the environmental services sector, particularly those with expertise in data collection, ecological surveys, and landscape analysis. Participating in the market engagement session allows organisations to shape the final tender specifications and understand procurement requirements. Companies specialising in environmental monitoring, ecological assessments, and land management consulting will find this procurement particularly relevant. Engaging early in this non-competitive dialogue can provide a competitive edge in the subsequent tender process, fostering long-term growth and strengthening business relations with Defra.
