Summary of the contracting process

The NHS Staffordshire and Stoke-on-Trent Integrated Care Board (ICB) has announced a tender for Assisted Conception services, including in vitro fertilisation (IVF), IVF with intracytoplasmic sperm injection (ICSI), and intrauterine insemination (IUI). This procurement falls under the "in vitro fertilisation services" category and is classified as a service in the health industry. The contract, a Direct Award under the Provider Selection Regime (PSR), has been updated to commence from 21st October 2024 and will run until 1st October 2025. The location of the procurement is within the UK, specifically Staffordshire and Stoke-on-Trent. Importantly, all relevant dates and deadlines have been set, with a standstill period allowing for representations by providers until 21st October 2024.

This tender presents an excellent opportunity for businesses specialising in medical interventions for conception to grow. The procurement method is a limited procedure without prior publication of a call for competition, focusing on maintaining existing capacity and reducing demand on primary and secondary care. The ICB has identified CARE Fertility Manchester as the intended awardee, given their demonstrated success rates and geographic presence. Businesses with relevant accreditations and a proven track record in fertility treatment services would be well-suited to compete in similar future tenders and contribute to the planned objectives of enhanced healthcare service delivery.
