Summary of the contracting process

Hull University Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust has announced the confirmation of a contract award for the insourcing of surgical hospital services under the title "Insourced Surgical Hospital Services - HUTH". The contract, estimated at a total value of £570,000, has been awarded to Hull and East Yorkshire Anaesthetic Syndicate Ltd. for the period from 1st November 2024 to 31st March 2025. This falls under the Health Care Services (Provider Selection Regime) Regulations 2023 using a Direct Award C Procedure. The contract award decision was made by the Executive Team on 8th October 2024, and this procurement process is categorised under the "services" industry, specifically "surgical hospital services" (CPV Code: 85111100). The procurement method used was limited, without prior publication of a call for competition, and the procurement stage is currently at the contract award phase, following a tender update. The location for the delivery of these services is the sites of Hull University Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust in Hull, United Kingdom.

This tender creates significant opportunities for business growth, particularly for companies that specialise in providing surgical hospital services and have the capability to insource and manage theatre sessions effectively. Businesses with experience in working alongside NHS Trusts, offering integrated services that enhance theatre capacity and reduce patient waiting times, could find this tender well-suited to their operations. Specifically, businesses that can provide high-quality surgical services with experienced surgeons, and align with the Trust's objectives of increasing patient flow and accessibility while supporting local employment, are encouraged to consider such opportunities. Given the limited procurement method, businesses positioned to establish direct engagements with NHS trusts and navigate the Provider Selection Regime efficiently will likely find themselves at an advantage.
