Summary of the contracting process

The Hampshire and Isle of Wight Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust is in the process of procuring a cloud-based Electronic Prescribing and Medicines Administration (EPMA) solution. This tender, classified under the Software package and information systems (CPV 48000000) category, aims to enhance the Trust's digital capabilities across inpatient, community, and clinic care settings. The procurement stage of this process is currently at the tender update phase as of 18 October 2024, with initial planning details noted on 16 October 2024. Key phases include virtual market engagement sessions scheduled for 6th, 13th, and 15th November. The EPMA solution must currently function within an existing NHS Trust, preferably Mental Health or Community Trusts, and must meet several interoperability and compliance requirements, including integration with multiple pharmacy dispensing systems, paperless prescription records, and smartcard authentication.

This tender presents significant business growth opportunities for companies specialising in healthcare software solutions. Suppliers who are capable of providing innovative and interoperable EPMA systems will find this tender particularly attractive. Ideal candidates include those already servicing NHS Trusts and possessing the technical capabilities to meet the extensive list of requirements, such as compliance with NHS digital standards, ability to liaise with pharmacy systems, and mobile solution functionality for community administration. Engaging with this tender could position businesses as strategic partners in driving forward the Trust's vision of a unified medication record system, aiding both local and broader healthcare providers. Interested companies should contact Helen Grieves, Procurement Category Manager, to participate in the market engagement sessions and should be prepared to provide evidence of current implementations and alignment with the tender requirements.
