Summary of the contracting process

NHS England has awarded a contract under the Health Care Services (Provider Selection Regime) Regulations 2023 for the "DNA Repair Disorders Service" to Guy's and St Thomas' NHS Foundation Trust. This contract, valued at £7,186,475, commenced on 1st April 2024 and will last for three years, with an option to extend for an additional two years. The procurement method used was a limited procedure without prior publication of a call for competition, classified under the CPV code 85000000 for health and social work services. The primary focus is on providing specialised care for rare inherited disorders, such as xeroderma pigmentosa (XP), Cockayne syndrome (CS), and trichothiodystrophy (TTD), requiring multidisciplinary inputs across various medical specialties. Key decisions were made by the National Commissioning Group and Clinical Executive Group earlier in the year, with no conflicts of interest reported.

This procurement presents significant opportunities for businesses involved in health and social work services, particularly those with expertise in managing complex, rare disorders. Companies providing specialised medical equipment, support services for dermatology, neurology, ophthalmology, and allied health services like dietetics, audiology, and palliative care would find this contract beneficial for growth. Engagement in this process allows businesses to collaborate with a leading NHS Foundation Trust and contribute to the improvement of patient outcomes in a highly specialised field. Therefore, it is ideal for large-scale enterprises with a comprehensive range of medical and support services capabilities.
