Summary of the contracting process

The NHS Bristol, North Somerset, and South Gloucestershire Integrated Care Board (BNSSG ICB), in conjunction with NHS Gloucestershire Integrated Care Board, has awarded a contract titled "Practice Plus Group_A" for the provision of surgical hospital services under the Health Care Services (Provider Selection Regime) Regulations 2023. The procurement, managed as Direct Award Process B and planned without prior publication of a call for competition, aims to deliver high-quality, cost-effective elective care services to NHS patients in various specialties including ENT, Oral Surgery, General Surgery, Gynaecology, Orthopaedics, Ophthalmology, Urology, Gastroenterology, and diagnostic procedures. The contract period is from 1st April 2024 to 31st March 2026, with no option for extension. The services will be provided at NHS regions in the South West (UKK1), supporting local waiting time targets and offering patient choice.

This awarded contract presents significant business growth opportunities for entities that specialise in healthcare services, particularly those equipped to offer comprehensive elective surgical and outpatient care across a range of medical specialties. The contract emphasises patient choice and high-quality care, thus businesses with a strong track record in these areas are well-suited to succeed. Moreover, the nature of the contract offers businesses the ability to reinforce their presence in the healthcare market, while contributing to reducing waiting times for NHS patients. Large healthcare providers, especially those capable of managing multiple disciplines and diagnostics under stringent quality standards, will find this tender particularly advantageous.
