Summary of the contracting process

The Women's Community Health Worker Service (WCHW), initiated by Buckinghamshire Council, focuses on health and social work services aimed at improving the well-being of women in deprived areas of Aylesbury and High Wycombe, Buckinghamshire. The pilot service, operating from 1 April 2025 to 31 March 2028, is structured under an open procedure, signifying an open and competitive procurement method. This contract, valued at £678,000, was awarded to Barnardo's, a reputable supplier, on 20 May 2025 and falls under the services procurement category. The process progressed from the tender to the awarding phase, illustrating an active and completed status in June 2025.

This initiative provides significant growth opportunities for businesses, particularly those experienced in community health and social work services, and non-profit organisations focused on public health and community welfare. Such businesses can not only expand their operational footprint in the health sector but also form strategic partnerships with local authorities and community groups. The project, characterised by a focus on service quality and cultural sensitivity, presents an ideal prospect for organisations with innovative health service solutions tailored for marginalised populations to showcase their expertise and contribute to public health improvements in regional settings.
