Summary of the contracting process

The Money and Pensions Service (MaPS), an arm's-length body sponsored by the Department for Work and Pensions, is in the early stages of market engagement for procuring community-based debt advice services, classified under "Other community, social and personal services." The procurement process is in the tender stage, with a focus on engaging widely over the coming months. MaPS has organised four virtual engagement events to discuss various elements of the requirements. The events include topics like the competitive process, target clients, delivery channels, payment approach, and workforce wellbeing. The events are scheduled via MS Teams Webinars on the following dates: Event 2 on Wednesday, 15th January 2025; Event 3 on Wednesday, 22nd January 2025 (with an updated registration link); and Event 4 on Thursday, 30th January 2025. The procurement aims for cost-effective and clear guidance to members of the public, with an estimated funding of £30,000,000 per annum for the first year.

This procurement opportunity offers significant potential for business growth, especially for enterprises specialising in community-based, high-quality, regulated debt advice services. Businesses capable of delivering accessible, social value-focused, and efficient debt advice services will find this tender an ideal opportunity to expand their offerings. The engagement events provide a platform to understand the competitive landscape, budgeting requirements, and quality assurance needed to align with MaPS' objectives. Companies focusing on legal advisory services and equipped to handle complex data reporting and performance monitoring will be well-positioned to compete effectively.
