Summary of the contracting process

The procurement process led by the City & County of Swansea focused on a contract entitled "Contract for Maintenance of Pumping Station Assets," classified under the industry category of mechanical and electrical engineering services. The procurement aimed at service maintenance and operation of pumping station installations, controlled by the City and County of Swansea's Highways and Transportation Department. This open procurement process started in November 2024, with a tender submission period initially ending on 3rd January 2025 but later extended to the 10th January 2025. The process has reached the award stage, with the contract signed on the 26th of March, 2025, and status marked as active. The project is located in the Swansea region in Wales, under regional or local authority jurisdiction. Key dates included the contract's completion being contingent on the capabilities to carry out works during periods like school holidays.

This tender creates significant opportunities for businesses specialising in mechanical and electrical engineering services, particularly those experienced with infrastructure such as pumping stations and telemetry systems. The open procedure means that any qualified supplier could submit a bid, making it suitable for small to medium enterprises (SMEs), as evidenced by the successful award to Samatrix Limited, an SME based in Swansea. The project allows for electronic submissions, making the process accessible and encouraging competition from diverse suppliers. Companies with a robust response system for telemetry alarms and an ability to deliver operational maintenance efficiently would find this contract beneficial for their growth in the public infrastructure sector.
