Summary of the contracting process

The Ministry of Defence has announced a tender for the supply and support of Pressure Hull Penetrators (PPEN's), including any associated cables and connectors, specifically for nuclear-fuelled strategic submarines. The contract includes procurement, repair, overhaul, and post-design services (PDS) associated with Ametek equipment and components installed in submarines. It also encompasses technical support and documentation updates. The procurement falls under the "goods" category, with a focus on strategic submarine nuclear-fuelled equipment, connection cables, and electrical components. Interested suppliers must submit their pre-qualification questionnaires by 31st January 2025. The tender is currently in the active stage and employs a restricted procurement method for selective tendering. The authority has asked for responses to be submitted via an e-Tendering system.

This tender presents significant opportunities for businesses specialising in marine equipment, electrical components, and technical support services. Companies with expertise in submarine components and a capability for quick defect response times would be well-suited to compete for this contract. The contract's long duration of approximately five years and the Ministry of Defence's involvement underscore the potential for long-term business growth and stability. Small to medium-sized enterprises with relevant experience and infrastructure to meet the stringent technical and support requirements are encouraged to express their interest and register on the eSourcing portal to participate in this procurement exercise.
