This is a Provider Selection Regime (PSR) intention to award notice. The awarding of this<br/>contract is subject to the Health Care Services (Provider Selection Regime) Regulations<br/>2023. For the avoidance of doubt, the provisions of the Public Contracts Regulations 2015<br/>do not apply to this award. The publication of this notice marks the start of the standstill<br/>period. Representations by providers must be made to decision makers by 7th February 2025<br/>Representations should be sent via email to: Christopher.sherwood@nhs.net<br/>Award decision makers are: Director of Dental & Planned Care Services & Operational Lead<br/>Dental Services.<br/>This contract has not yet formally been awarded; this notice serves as an intention to award<br/>under the PSR.<br/>There were no conflicts of interest.<br/>The rationale behind the relative importance of the key criteria that Kent Community Health<br/>NHS Foundation Trust used to make the decision:<br/>Quality & Innovation (patient satisfaction)<br/>KCHFT are unique to employ the services of a CDT to carry our denture work for domiciliary<br/>patients. Patients receive their appliances in a timely manner and much quicker than could<br/>be achieved by visiting a dentist. <br/>The current service was co-designed with the provider.<br/>Service improvement is a routine discussion at contract review meetings.<br/>Patient satisfaction scores are consistently high at 99.3% across CDS services with no<br/>complaints relating to the CDT service.<br/>Integration, collaboration and service sustainability:-<br/>The current CDT service is integrated within the CDS service and has proved to work in<br/>collaboration with clinicians and managers when managing domiciliary patients requiring denture<br/>work.<br/>The CDT also completes their own lab work negating the necessity of additional drivers to<br/>collect and return lab work which in turn reduces our carbon footprint.<br/>Improving access, reducing health inequalities and facilitating choice:-<br/><br/>Providing a service for domiciliary patients. The CDT service offers a wider choice of<br/>appointment times for home visits which improves access and choice. Denture work is<br/>completed in a timely manner which reduces health inequalities for home bound patients.<br/>Value:-<br/>This is an activity based contract and value for money is key. Utilising a CDT is more cost<br/>effective than a DO providing this service. It also allows DO's to focus on other clinical<br/>treatment, keeping the waiting times to a manageable level which keeps the reference costs<br/>for the CDS down.<br/>Social Value:-<br/>Providing value for money by reaching a vulnerable cohort of patients and providing dental<br/>prosthetics in a timely manner.
