The procurement process, overseen by Newport City Council, is for the Street Lighting Maintenance Contract, classified under the Street-lighting maintenance services category (CPV 50232100). The contract is situated in Newport (region UKL) and is in the Award stage as of 21st February 2025. It involves maintaining over 22,500 illuminated street assets including road, footway, car park lighting, and illuminated traffic signs. The contract has been awarded to Centregreat and involves an extension to expire no later than 31st August 2026, with no changes to the scope or nature of the work. The original contract signed on 30th May 2017, valued at £4,772,595 GBP, covers a duration of 360 days.

Business opportunities arise from this tender for companies specialising in street-lighting maintenance and related services. The substantial contract value and extension indicate a need for robust service provision, making it suitable for large-scale enterprises like Centregreat, which have the capacity to manage a broad range of maintenance tasks efficiently.
