Summary of the contracting process

Armagh City, Banbridge and Craigavon Borough Council procured residual waste collection and handling across its borough. The service was divided into three lots: kerbside residual waste from household collections, street litter and bulky collections in the southern area; the same kerbside service in the northern area; and residual waste from household waste recycling centres, council depots and facilities, plus bulky collections across the whole borough. This is a municipal waste services contract, covering both regular collections and waste brought to council sites. The work is delivered in the council borough in Northern Ireland.

The procurement was completed through an open procedure, with three separate lots and a cost-based evaluation criterion carrying a stated 70 weighting. The council selected RiverRidge Recycling (Portadown) Ltd for the southern-area kerbside lot and the whole-borough sites and bulky collections lot; Natural World Products Ltd was selected for the northern-area kerbside lot. The estimated lot values were £6 million, £20.5 million and £6.5 million respectively. The contracts are active and were signed on 10 November 2025, 8 May 2026 and 25 June 2026 respectively. Each lot had a stated initial contract period of 720 days and three optional 12-month extensions. The tender deadline was amended from 25 March to 1 April 2025.
