Summary of the contracting process

The public procurement process is being conducted by Kent County Council, aiming to procure 'Metal Recycling Services' for their Household Waste Recycling Centres (HWRCs) throughout Kent. Classified under the 'services' industry category with a location in the UK, this procurement is currently in the planning stage. The council has planned to split the service contracts appropriately to manage up to 10,000 tonnes of metal annually, and prospective suppliers are required to fully meet environmental and safety standards. The process is set to begin the contract period on 1st October 2025, concluding on 30th September 2027, with a key communication date for future notices set for 24th May 2025.

This tender presents a significant opportunity for businesses specialising in refuse disposal and treatment services to engage in a collaborative partnership with a public authority. Companies experienced in waste management, particularly those with the capacity to handle large volumes of scrap metal, could find valuable growth opportunities here. The potential for multiple contracts provides flexibility and a chance for smaller firms to compete alongside more established ones, fostering innovation and delivering efficient services to Kent's local government. Engaging in this procurement could enhance the market presence of well-prepared organisations, as they contribute to sustainable environmental practices in the region.
