Summary of the contracting process

The procurement process for bereavement counselling services has been updated by the NHS Lancashire and South Cumbria Integrated Care Board, focusing on the delivery of health services in the Preston area, UKD4 region. Initially commenced under a direct award procedure, the contracting phase has concluded with notice of the award confirmed. This is in accordance with the Health Care Services (Provider Selection Regime) Regulations 2023, distinctly separating it from the Public Contracts Regulations 2015 or the Procurement Act 2023. The contract, valued at £67,233, was awarded on 11th March 2025, slated to commence on 1st April 2025, with completion scheduled for 31st March 2026.

This tender presents substantial opportunities for businesses specialising in health services, particularly those with expertise in bereavement support. Companies equipped with understanding and capabilities in delivering compassionate mental health services might find this contract especially beneficial for growth, strengthening their portfolio and visibility in the public sector market. The direct award method indicates a streamlined process, advantageous for businesses with pre-existing frameworks or qualifications to compete effectively in such targeted procurement processes.
