Summary of the contracting process

The Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office is proceeding with a procurement process for car hire services under the Framework Agreement for Car Hire Services in India. This agreement covers services provided to FCDO staff members, British High Commission, British Deputy High Commissions, and visiting officials from the UK. The procurement process has reached the award stage, with contracts effective from 1 December 2025, initially for a two-year period, with potential extension for two additional years. The service agreement, slated to commence on this date, entails a gross value of £350,000. Businesses interested in this agreement should note that the procurement method is an open procedure and the geographical location for the service delivery is India.

This award presents an excellent opportunity for businesses within the passenger transport industry to collaborate with a major UK governmental department. The framework agreement allows for direct awards for travel costs up to £3,000, and larger travel arrangements through mini competitions among framework suppliers. Ideal candidates are those capable of providing 24/7 support and demonstrating technical and economic ability to meet demands within India. Particularly, businesses that can ensure vehicle ownership without reliance on franchised or rented third-party vehicles have a promising chance to expand their operations and solidify their presence in the dynamic Indian transport sector. Small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) could particularly benefit from this opportunity to establish long-term business relationships and secure steady contracts within the government sector.
