Summary of the contracting process

NHS Leicester, Leicestershire and Rutland ICB has completed the procurement process for the "Children's and Young Person's Community Eating Disorder Service" under the Health Services industry category. The awarded contract will see the services delivered between 1st October 2025 to 30th September 2027, with a possible extension until 2029, across Leicester, Leicestershire, and Rutland. This tender was conducted under the Provider Selection Regime, which falls outside the traditional public contracts regulations, focusing on selecting the most suitable provider without prior publication of a call for competition. The contract, valued at £1 million over the potential four-year period, was awarded on 22nd September 2025, with an annual value of £250k.

This tender presents significant opportunities for healthcare service providers, particularly those specialising in mental health services for young people. Companies with expertise in delivering evidence-based therapies for eating disorders, as well as those capable of integrating digital and face-to-face services, will find this contract aligns well with their capabilities. The focus on reducing health inequalities and tailoring services to minority groups further opens doors for businesses experienced in inclusive healthcare solutions. SMEs like First Steps ED, the awarded supplier, demonstrate the viability for smaller enterprises to effectively deliver high-quality, innovative healthcare services that adhere to regulatory guidelines and local needs.
