Summary of the contracting process

The London School of Hygiene & Tropical Medicine (LSHTM) had initially issued a tender for a Risk Management App, a crucial tool for ensuring the safety of their staff and students during international travel and offsite activities. The procurement, categorised under application service providers and programming services of application software, was planned as an open competition below threshold. The tender was initially active with a submission deadline on 9th April 2025 and an enquiry deadline on 24th March 2025. The procurement's value was estimated at £132,000 gross (£110,000 net) with the contract period running from 1st June 2025 to 31st May 2028, including potential extensions up to March 2030. However, this tender was later cancelled on 26th March 2025 due to substantial changes to the specification, necessitating reissue of the tender notice and documents.

This tender presents substantial opportunities for businesses specialising in risk management software, digital safety platforms, and emergency response applications. Small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) and voluntary, community, and social enterprises (VCSEs) are particularly encouraged to participate, given the suitability criteria specified. With a focus on delivering a robust platform for real-time risk alerts, tracking, and emergency response, this project aligns well with businesses that offer innovative technological solutions in the health and safety domain. Successful collaboration in this tender presents a growth opportunity through long-term engagement and the ability to showcase expertise in delivering critical safety and security services for a prestigious academic institution.
