Notice Description

Birmingham City Council (BCC) wishes to invite suitably experienced and qualified consultants to undertake an assessment of its Green Belt land including the identification of any Grey Belt sites to inform and support the preparation of the Birmingham Local Plan Review (2020-2042). The purpose of the commission is to provide a comprehensive assessment of the extent to which the land designated as Green Belt within Birmingham fulfils the essential characteristics as set out in the National Planning Policy Framework (NPPF) Paragraphs 142-152 and serves the five purposes, which are: * to check the unrestricted sprawl of large built-up areas * to prevent neighbouring towns merging into one another * to assist in safeguarding the countryside from encroachment * to preserve the setting and special character of historic towns; and * to assist in urban regeneration, by encouraging the recycling of derelict and other urban land. The Council will be using its free to use e-tendering system (in-tend) for the administration of this procurement process and potential suppliers must register with the system to be able to express an interest.
