Summary of the contracting process

The procurement process for Occupational Health with Needle Stick Injury Support Services was initiated by NHS Staffordshire and Stoke-on-Trent Integrated Care Board, acting in collaboration with NHS Shropshire, Telford and Wrekin ICB. This contract is within the healthcare services industry category, specifically focused on occupational health, and will be delivered primarily in the regions of Staffordshire, Stoke-on-Trent, and Shropshire in the United Kingdom. The procurement stage has progressed to completion, with the awarding of the contract to Heales Health Services Ltd. valued at approximately £276,320 over a potential lifespan of up to four years, starting from 1st October 2025. The procurement method used was an open competition under a light-touch regime with the final award announced on 9th September 2025.

This tender presents substantial opportunities for businesses with expertise in occupational health and needle stick injury management. The service must be accessible to all NHS primary care staff, which implies a wide scope of engagement, making it ideal for businesses experienced in healthcare services targeting large workforces. Small and medium enterprises (SMEs) and organisations capable of collaborating within a provider network stand to gain significant growth by meeting these service demands. The contract’s extension option provides further potential for long-term partnership and revenue stability, making it an attractive opportunity for businesses looking to expand their footprint in public healthcare provisioning.
