Summary of the contracting process

The NHS Staffordshire and Stoke-On-Trent Integrated Care Board (ICB) is seeking to award a contract to Katharine House Hospice for the provision of specialist palliative care services in Stafford, Staffordshire. This is a direct award under the Health Care Services (Provider Selection Regime) Regulations 2023. The contract, valued at £1,355,112, will cover services from 1st April 2025 to 31st March 2026. The decision-making process includes a standstill period ending on 2nd April 2025 during which interested parties may make representations. The procurement process is thus in the award stage, having met the criteria for a direct award due to the existing provider’s satisfactory performance under the current contract.

This tender offers a unique opportunity for businesses involved in hospital and related services, specifically those specialising in palliative and end-of-life care, to engage with a well-established and reputable public healthcare provider. By maintaining continuity with Katharine House Hospice, the contract ensures the continuation of high-quality care services, potentially reducing demand on primary and secondary care systems. Businesses with expertise in healthcare service delivery may find this contract particularly relevant as it aligns with the ICB's goal to maintain service levels without considerable change, adhering to stringent regulatory standards. This could lead to further collaboration opportunities and scaled business growth within the healthcare sector.
