Summary of the contracting process

Newark And Sherwood District Council is currently in the tender stage for the procurement of a removals service related to the Yorke Drive Regeneration Project. The initiative aims to secure a supplier capable of handling up to 92 moves for tenants on the Yorke Drive estate, providing essential packing and unpacking services where needed. The procurement, classified under the services category, is an open competition and is crucial for fulfilling a strategic regeneration objective. Key dates include a submission deadline of 12 noon on 22nd August 2025. The procurement is valued at £80,000 with a service delivery location in Newark, United Kingdom (region UKF15).

This tender represents a significant business opportunity, particularly for firms specialising in removals services, including those offering goods-transport vehicles with drivers. It provides an avenue for growth for small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) and voluntary, community, and social enterprises (VCSEs) that can deliver a high-quality service. Given the project’s phased approach and emphasis on managing tenant relocations sensitively, businesses with experience in complex project management and excellent client service would find this contract well-suited to their capabilities. The procurement method ensures a competitive yet fair selection process, which could serve as an excellent growth opportunity in the public sector for the successful bidder.

Notice Title

NSDC-1505 Yorke Drive Removals

Notice Description

The Council is seeking a supplier to provide a removals service for tenants on the Yorke Drive estate, moving home as part of the phased decant of the Yorke Drive Regeneration Project. NSDC wishes to commission an organisation to: * Provide a removals service for a maximum of 92 moves. * Provide a packing and unpacking service for a selection of properties that require additional support. * Management and co-ordination of the removals with NSDC and the tenants in a professional, sensitive and efficient manner. The regeneration of the Yorke Drive estate has been a long-term priority for the Council to help address the on-going anti-social behaviour problems across the estate; improve connectivity with the wider locale; and improve the existing sports pitches, to create a safer place for the community to live. The current estate is a mixture of property sizes and is largely Council owned. The layout is a typical Radburn design with gardens positioned at the front of the property and a large network of passageways and alleyways across the estate, with limited green space. The Regeneration Team at the Council have recently reached a major milestone in this project, having secured Reserved Matters planning consent at Planning Committee on 13th February 2025, for 207 dwellings, 74 of which will be affordable houses. This is following the selective demolition of 130 properties. The property size, type and location of the new affordable homes have been specifically designed and planned to enable all residents of Yorke Drive estate who wish to remain on the estate to decant into a new home, suitable for their needs. Some residents wish to leave Yorke Drive estate, and they will be supported in finding a new home within their location of preference within the district. A Decant Strategy has been developed to minimise the impact and upheaval of moving for the tenants and aims to only move tenants once. To achieve this, the new affordable homes are being delivered first (on the existing playing pitches) to enable tenants to move in a phased order, before demolition of their existing property takes place. Interested bidders are encouraged to apply for this tendering opportunity through the ProContract tendering portal: https://procontract.due-north.com/Advert?advertId=c09df56b-f766-f011-813a-005056b64545&p=527b4bbd-5c58-e511-80ef-000c29c9ba21 Deadlines for submissions is 12 noon 22nd August 2025.
