Summary of the contracting process

NHS Lancashire and South Cumbria Integrated Care Board (ICB) are currently in the planning stage of a public procurement process for primary medical care services to be provided at Coniston Medical Practice, located in the southern part of the Lake District National Park. The current General Medical Services (GMS) contract will transition to an Alternative Provider Medical Services (APMS) contract. Interested providers are invited to respond to a Request for Information (RFI) by 12:00pm on 11th April 2025, via the Atamis Portal (contract reference C350287). The total contract value is £218,357 per annum, including VAT for dispensing elements. This RFI aims to understand market interest in providing services to Coniston’s patient population, following the GP partners' decision to return their contract due to a partner’s retirement effective 31st July 2025.

This tender represents a significant opportunity for healthcare providers, especially those specialising in General Practice and associated medical services, to expand their presence in a desirable location known for its natural beauty and community focus. Businesses with experience in delivering primary medical care services under APMS contracts will find this opportunity well-suited to their expertise. Participation in this RFI offers a chance to engage with the ICB early in the process, potentially influencing future procurement decisions and demonstrating capability and readiness to meet local healthcare needs.
