Summary of the contracting process

The current procurement process, initiated by Westminster City Council in collaboration with the Royal Borough of Kensington & Chelsea, is in the planning stage for a project titled "Life Choice and Opportunity Service for people with a Learning Disability." It falls under the industry category of social work services and welfare services for disabled people. The services will be provided in the London regions UKI32 and UKI33. This procurement, which embodies a "light-touch" regime, is set within the framework laid down by the UK Public General Acts. Key dates include the deadline for the submission of responses to the market engagement by the 2nd of May 2025 and an anticipated start of service delivery in April 2026. The procurement strategy is expected to be finalised by the summer of 2025, with procurement commencing in autumn 2025.

This tender represents a significant opportunity for SMEs and VCSEs specialising in social services and support for individuals with learning disabilities and/or autism to expand their operations. With a projected contract value of £2,655,000, this service will support the London boroughs' social initiatives and enhance community welfare programmes. Companies with expertise in providing social work, welfare, and community action programmes could leverage this opportunity to foster growth and establish stronger ties within local government procurement channels. Engaging in this contract also allows firms to collaborate directly with significant local authorities, providing essential services that address pressing needs in these communities.
