Summary of the contracting process

The Driver and Vehicle Standards Agency (DVSA) has finalized the "Vehicle Components Testing Framework," with an award made on 15th June 2026. This procurement, under an Open Procedure, relates to services within the technical and mechanical engineering sectors. It is part of the Market Surveillance Authority’s responsibilities within the automotive industry in Great Britain, ensuring vehicles meet type approval requirements. The framework will be active from 9th September 2026 to 8th September 2029, with a potential 12-month extension, addressing emissions, noise, and tyre testing. The contract, valued at £9.2 million, with a gross amount of £11.04 million, encompasses regions in the UK, Germany, Spain, Czechia, and France.

This tender represents a strategic opportunity for businesses specialising in technical and mechanical engineering services. The Open Procedure and framework agreement with mini competitions ensure competitive participation. While mainly large-scale suppliers like FEV Europe GmbH, Horiba Mira Ltd, and others have been engaged, the framework remains open to suppliers who meet the specific testing capabilities outlined. Firms that can provide high-quality, compliant technical services and those able to adapt to evolving testing requirements through potential framework expansions will find ample opportunity for growth within the DVSA's structured framework environment.
