Summary of the contracting process

Bournemouth, Christchurch and Poole Council has successfully completed its procurement process for the Supported Accommodation Services Framework for Children in Care, covering the UKK24 region of the United Kingdom. This contract involves providing accommodation services to children aged 16-18 under the council's care, focusing on their preparation for independent living. The entire process moved from planning in 2025 to tender and was later awarded in early 2026. The awarded contract commenced on 1st April 2026 and will run for five years with an option to extend for up to an additional three years, potentially lasting until 2034. The procurement was conducted via an open, competitive flexible procedure under a light-touch regime, ensuring thorough evaluations of the tenders received.

This framework presents a significant opportunity for SMEs and organisations within the health and social work services sector to engage in substantial public sector work. Companies specialising in supported accommodation—particularly those offering services to care-driven environments—can leverage this contract to establish footholds or expand their operational capacities in Dorset and surrounding areas. The multi-supplier framework allows for a diverse range of service providers, including those led by VCSE organisations, thereby fostering an inclusive growth environment for small to medium enterprises committed to delivering quality and competitive service offerings. This procurement framework is poised to support such organisations in scaling and stabilising their businesses aligned with the needs of public sector clients.
