Summary of the contracting process

The Ministry of Justice is in the planning stage of a public procurement process for the supply of industrial laundry detergent, dosing equipment, and associated services across England and Wales. The process, initiated as a tender, is pivotal for maintaining hygiene standards in His Majesty’s Prison and Probation Service facilities. Supplier engagement meetings are scheduled for 8th, 9th, and 10th July 2025 in Leeds and online, aimed at refining the tender's scope and structure before full announcement on 1st October 2025. This procurement falls under the ‘goods’ category and includes delivery across the UK. The anticipated value stands at £4,550,000, with contracts planned to commence on 1st April 2026, lasting until 31st March 2033.

This tender represents a substantial opportunity for businesses specialising in laundry supplies and services. Its emphasis on fostering innovation and sustainability provides an avenue for suppliers to contribute valuable insights that could lead to enhanced service quality and cost-effectiveness. The procurement process is particularly accommodating to small and medium enterprises (SMEs), encouraging broad participation. Providers of laundry chemicals, operation services, and dosing equipment are well-suited to compete, potentially bolstering their industry standing and expanding operational reach through engagement with a central government authority.
