Summary of the contracting process

The Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office (FCDO), a central government authority located in London, is currently in the tender phase of a procurement process for the construction of a new High Commissioner’s Residence in Port Louis, Mauritius. The project, detailed under the Competitive Flexible Procedure, involves the demolition of the existing residence and subsequent construction of a new two-storey building within the British High Commission Compound, emphasizing sustainability and wheelchair accessibility. Suppliers are invited to express interest by submitting a Procurement Specific Questionnaire (PSQ) by 13th February 2026. The estimated value of the project is GBP 8,796,000, with the construction phase expected to start on 31st July 2026 and end on 9th March 2029.

This procurement offers significant potential for business growth, particularly for firms specializing in building construction work and sustainable design. Small and medium enterprises (SMEs) are encouraged to participate, with the process designed to accommodate a wide range of business scales. The project’s emphasis on sustainability and accessibility in its design aligns with growing industry trends toward eco-friendly and inclusive architecture, presenting an opportunity for businesses with expertise in these areas to demonstrate their capabilities. Given the need for diverse construction elements, including reinforced concrete and glazed ceramic tiles, companies with a background in high-quality building materials and intricate construction processes would be ideally suited to compete for this tender.
