Summary of the contracting process

The procurement process initiated by Forestry and Land Scotland, titled "Buildings Maintenance," revolves around enhancing biodiversity, tourism, and accessibility to green spaces, thereby promoting the physical and mental well-being of Scotland. With an open procedure, this procurement falls under the works category, focusing specifically on construction work and maintenance services. The industry category involves a wide array of trades including plumbing, joinery, electrical, and more. The buying organisation based in Inverness is undertaking the establishment of a framework agreement with external contractors, aiming to maintain and upgrade various buildings across Scotland. The procurement process has reached the award stage, dated 23rd February 2026, following amendments and adjustments made during its lifecycle, including a deadline extension in August 2025 to accommodate bidders over a holiday period.

This tender creates substantial opportunities for business growth, especially for small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) skilled in construction and maintenance services. Companies specialising in electrical installations, roof maintenance, plumbing, joinery, and painting work, amongst others, will find this procurement particularly beneficial. The agreement allows for up to three contractors per lot, with a maximum of four lots awarded per supplier, ensuring diverse involvement and competitive bidding. With the contracts now awarded, successful companies will enter a significant financial partnership with Forestry and Land Scotland, securing work across various regions and contributing to the sustainable rural economy of Scotland. Participating in such frameworks not only ensures a consistent workload but elevates the profile of involved contractors within the public procurement landscape.
