Summary of the contracting process

Swindon Borough Council is initiating a procurement process to engage in preliminary market discussions regarding the maintenance of automatic doors across 53 properties, including sheltered housing schemes and corporate civic buildings, amounting to approximately 126 assets. The service contract seeks to ensure compliance with BS EN 16005 and includes both responsive and scheduled maintenance, as well as repairs. This procurement falls under the category of repair and maintenance services of building installations and aims to provide coverage 24 hours a day, seven days a week, including weekends and bank holidays. The planning stage is underway, and interested suppliers must register and express interest by 22nd July 2025 at 15:00 UK Local time through the ProContract tender portal. The project is valued at £260,000 and will run from 1st January 2026 to 31st December 2028.

This tender offers significant business growth opportunities for companies specialising in repair and maintenance services of electrical and mechanical building installations, particularly those with experience in servicing automatic doors. Businesses that can deliver high-quality, reliable 24/7 maintenance and are equipped to meet same-day response times for urgent issues are well-suited to compete in this market. It is an excellent chance for firms to expand their local operations within Swindon and leverage their expertise in providing comprehensive maintenance services. Participating in this tender could help establish long-term relationships with sub-central government authorities like Swindon Borough Council and position companies in a favourable spot for future projects within the public sector.
