Summary of the contracting process

The East Of England NHS Collaborative Hub, in collaboration with the West Suffolk NHS Foundation Trust, has initiated a tender for an "Ambulance Vehicle Recovery Framework Agreement." This framework aims to appoint multiple suppliers to provide roadside assistance and vehicle recovery services across the NHS Ambulance Service Trusts in the UK, including England, Scotland, Wales, and Northern Ireland. The procurement process, currently at the active tender stage, is conducted via an open competition below the threshold. The anticipated framework commencement is 1st May 2026, spanning an initial two-year term, with potential extensions of two additional 12-month periods. The deadline for tender submissions is 16th January 2026, while inquiries were closed by 28th November 2025. The procurement falls under the services category, with an estimated gross value of £8.4 million, aiming to cover both operational and non-operational fleet requirements on a regional basis through lots and sub-lots.

This tender presents significant opportunities for businesses across the roadside assistance and vehicle recovery sectors. Given the breadth of coverage across the UK and the potential for a long-term partnership with the NHS, companies that specialise in commercial vehicle recovery and have the capacity to operate on a regional basis will find this tender highly conducive to growth. Additionally, small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) are encouraged to participate, as the tender is structured to enable fair competition among diverse suppliers. By engaging in this procurement, businesses will not only expand their reach but also cement their capabilities and services within a pivotal segment of public health infrastructure, thus enhancing their market presence and business portfolio.
