Summary of the contracting process

The South Tees Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust is in the planning stage of a procurement process for specialised gynaecology oncology services under the Provider Selection Regime. This procurement is focused on Gynaecological hospital services, central to the diagnosis and treatment of female reproductive system cancers including those affecting the ovaries, uterus, cervix, vagina, and vulva. The service currently outsourced to Gateshead University Hospital Trust will see a transition in-house with plans to expand theatre space by April 2026. The contract, valued at £684,000, has a standstill period in effect, with representation by providers required by 1st September 2025. The services would be delivered at The James Cook University Hospital in Middlesbrough.

This tender presents significant opportunities for businesses specialising in healthcare services, particularly those with expertise in oncology and women’s health. Firms specializing in providing integrated care with multidisciplinary teams comprising gynaecologic oncologists, surgeons, and other medical professionals are well-positioned to benefit. Additionally, companies involved in healthcare infrastructure development may find growth opportunities in the expansion of theatre space, set for completion by April 2026. As the service currently relies on a multidisciplinary approach, suppliers offering collaborative and comprehensive healthcare solutions may have a competitive edge.
