Summary of the contracting process

The Bournemouth, Christchurch and Poole Council is planning a public procurement process for the development of Duck Lane Modular Building. This project falls under the "goods" category within the modular and portable buildings industry, and the construction is set to take place in the UK's South West region (UKK24). Currently, the process is in the planning phase, with a focus on early market engagement. Interested parties must submit their expressions of interest by 14 September 2025. The programme's aim is to establish a modular construction solution, comprising twelve two-bedroom apartments along with external grounds, based on Passivhaus principles.

This procurement process presents significant opportunities for modular construction businesses, particularly those specialised in off-site systems. Small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) may find this project particularly suitable given the council's preference for innovative construction solutions. The estimated contract value of up to £2.4 million indicates a worthwhile investment for businesses to contribute to energy-efficient, modern housing infrastructure. Engaging early in the process can provide competitive advantages in understanding the council's requirements and the subsequent planning stages, such as Gateway 3 approval.
