Summary of the contracting process

Tameside Metropolitan Borough Council is in the planning stage of procuring a long-term development partner for the "Ashton Town Centre - Development Partner Procurement" initiative. This project, supported by the Greater Manchester Combined Authority, Homes England, and Transport for Greater Manchester, aims to create mixed-tenure residential areas and community assets in the Ashton under Lyne region. The procurement process is being managed under the Competitive Flexible Procedure outlined in the Procurement Act 2023. A preliminary market engagement is in progress with responses due by 19 September 2025. The industry categories include construction, real estate services, and architectural and engineering services, with the project location being the UKD3 region of the United Kingdom.

This tender represents a significant opportunity for businesses in the construction, real estate, and architectural sectors, particularly those with expertise in large-scale urban development. The focus on developing a joint venture aligns well with companies that have the financial standing and capacity for long-term partnerships. Additionally, SMEs have the opportunity to participate, highlighting a wider scope for businesses aiming to expand within these sectors. The involvement in early market engagement could offer potential bidders strategic insights into upcoming opportunities and developmental frameworks. Businesses that are adept at securing public-sector contracts and managing complex projects would benefit greatly from this procurement opportunity.
