Summary of the contracting process

Nottingham City Council is seeking tenders for the provision of mortuary services in support of the Coroners Service, with an estimated gross value of £9.6 million for the contract period. The procurement is at the tender stage, using a competitive flexible procedure and falls under the health and social work services category. The procurement process is being conducted as an open procedure, and submissions must be made electronically. Nottingham City Council, a sub-central government public authority located at Loxley House, Station Street, Nottingham, is overseeing the process. The deadline for tender submissions is on 19th December 2025, while the enquiry period ends on 5th December 2025. The award period is expected to conclude by 9th February 2026, with the contract commencing on 2nd March 2026 and running until 28th February 2030.

This tender offers significant opportunities for businesses involved in health and social work services, particularly those with experience in mortuary services. Since the procurement process encourages competition through an open procedure, it presents a broad opportunity for suitably qualified suppliers to engage with the Council. Small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) within the health sector may find this tender particularly beneficial, as it allows them to expand their service offerings to public entities and secure long-term commitments. The focus on quality and price, with quality accounting for 60% of the award criteria, underscores the Council’s commitment to ensuring high standards, making it advantageous for businesses that can demonstrate excellent service delivery and competitive pricing.
