Summary of the contracting process

The Solihull Metropolitan Borough Council is currently at the award stage of a procurement process for the "SOL Healthy Active Lives 2026" project. This initiative falls under the Community Health Services category and aims to enhance the health and wellbeing of Solihull residents through an integrated lifestyle service. The service consolidates two previous services into a comprehensive preventative health offer, aligning with both local and national priorities. The procurement process has been conducted under the Provider Selection Regime (PSR) and not the Public Contracts Regulations 2015. The standstill period, during which representations can be made, ends on 19 January 2026. After this period, the council plans to formalise a contract expected to begin on 1 April 2026, extending over five years with potential for further extension up to 2033.

This tender presents significant opportunities for businesses in the healthcare and wellness sectors, particularly those focused on community health services. Companies that can offer innovative solutions in integration, collaboration, and service sustainability while addressing health inequalities and promoting choice stand to gain markedly. With the contract valued at over £2.5 million, businesses, including SMEs, that meet the technical and financial criteria and can contribute to achieving considerable social value are ideal candidates. Organisations that can adeptly navigate open procurement procedures will find this contract a promising opportunity to expand their role in public health and wellbeing initiatives within the region.
