Summary of the contracting process

Westminster City Council has completed a procurement process for an "Interim Services Contract - Complex Occupational Therapy," awarded to The OT Practice Limited. This award, part of the Health Care Services (Provider Selection Regime) Regulations 2023, reflects the council's vision for high-quality Occupational Therapy services aimed at promoting independence and well-being among local residents. The procurement was urgently issued, following the cessation of the previous provider, invoking regulation 14 due to unforeseeable urgency and risk to public safety. The contract, valued at approximately £297,000 excluding VAT, commenced on 9th September 2025 and will run until 31st March 2026. The procurement method used was direct, or "below threshold - without competition," ensuring a quick response to urgent community needs.

This contract offers significant growth opportunities for businesses involved in rehabilitation services, particularly those with experience in integrating sophisticated occupational therapy provisions within community support frameworks. Companies specialising in digital health solutions or providing complementary services such as home improvement and community equipment supply could find additional opportunities alongside the core service. This procurement exercise demonstrates a valuable opportunity for small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) which can navigate public sector contracts and adapt to urgent community demands. The successful contractor's focus will be on delivering services in collaboration with various public and community health services to improve life quality for residents across Westminster.
