The contract involves facilities management services throughout its multisite estate and is set under the category of repair and maintenance services, electrical installation work, and monitoring and control services. The preliminary market engagement, which began on 16th September 2025 and concludes on 30th September 2025, invites interested parties to participate in an open survey to assess market interest and capabilities. The procurement aims to establish a resilient and adaptive service partnership focused on sustainability, with an estimated total value of £8,500,000 over an initial three-year term starting in December 2026, with possible extensions leading to a total term of seven years. The engagement process will transition to a formal procurement phase anticipated to launch in the first quarter of 2026.

This tender presents significant business growth opportunities for firms experienced in facilities management, particularly those specialising in services that require sensitivity to historic environments. Both large and SME organisations stand to benefit from this tender, especially those able to deliver high-quality, sustainable solutions that align with the Museum's focus on minimizing environmental impact and enhancing social value. The procurement process, managed transparently under the Procurement Act 2023, offers a platform for firms to establish long-term partnerships with a prestigious cultural institution.
