Summary of the contracting process

North Lanarkshire Council has completed a framework agreement for the provision of taxi and private hire services to enhance its transport offerings, particularly for school pupils and those with Additional Support Needs (ASN). This comprehensive procurement process, classified under CPV code 60120000 for taxi services, involved dividing the contract into multiple lots and sub-lots, catering to various localities such as Airdrie, Bellshill, Coatbridge, Cumbernauld, Wishaw, and across Northern, Central, and Southern Zones. The procurement process progressed through an open procedure and, as of 7th July 2026, has reached the award and contract stage, transitioning several successful suppliers into active service roles effective from 17th June 2026. This initiative is situated within the UKM84 region, with North Lanarkshire Council, a regional authority, serving as the contracting body.

This framework agreement presents a significant opportunity for small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) specialising in taxi services and passenger transport to expand their operations within the North Lanarkshire region. Businesses capable of providing reliable, flexible, and sustainable transport solutions, particularly those with a fleet equipped to handle diverse passenger needs, will find this an ideal platform for growth. The council's emphasis on service quality, safety, accessibility, and environmental considerations ensures that innovative and compliant operators can secure a foothold in a multi-million-pound framework, facilitating business scalability and community engagement through strategic transport partnerships.
