Summary of the contracting process

The Home Office, a central government authority in the United Kingdom, is in the planning stage of a procurement process concerning a National Automatic Number Plate Recognition (ANPR) Service Application and Associated Services. The preliminary market engagement for this procurement is taking place, with an online Market Engagement Event scheduled via Microsoft Teams on 15th October 2025. Potential suppliers are required to fully register by 13th October 2025 and enter into a Non-Disclosure Agreement as part of the registration process. The industry category for this procurement is mainly centred around software package and information systems as well as information technology services, with the procurement's main locus being in the UK. The anticipated contract period is planned from May 2027 through May 2032, highlighting the long-term commitment involved, and a significant budget has been allocated, with the gross value estimated at £72 million.

This procurement provides substantial opportunities for businesses specialising in information technology services, especially those experienced in developing high-demand applications that necessitate robust security and privacy measures. Suppliers with a strong background in software programming and consultancy services, particularly those with products already aligned with ANPR and national security efforts, will find this a fitting opportunity to expand their portfolio. The procurement process emphasizes the need for innovative solutions capable of integrating with existing systems and supporting live-time alerting and data management operations, presenting a potentially rewarding prospect for tech-focused enterprises looking to contribute to national security and law enforcement capabilities.
