Summary of the contracting process

The Borough of Telford & Wrekin is currently in the tender stage for the "Minor Works (Disabled Facilities Grants) Framework," classified under the industry category of building construction work. This tender encompasses works within the region of UKG21, specifically targeting improvements in private domestic properties through accessible bathrooms, shower rooms, internal remodelling, and ramped access. The framework is valued at £25 million and is planned to commence on 9th December 2025, running for a period of eight years. The procedure being used is an open framework method, providing flexibility with the possibility of reopening to include new approved providers after Year 1 or Year 3 and again after Year 5. Important deadlines include the tender period ending on 21st November 2025 at 17:00, and the enquiries period concluding on 14th November 2025 at 17:00.

This framework provides a significant opportunity for businesses within the construction sector to engage in a competitive, flexible environment, particularly benefiting small to medium enterprises (SMEs). With two lots available, businesses adept in grant-related construction work can participate in Lot 1 for works up to £30k and Lot 2 for projects up to £120k. The contracts will be awarded based on subsequent competitive procedures, focusing heavily on pricing for Lot 2. The ability to bid on both predefined schedules or offer specific quotes allows diverse business types to participate according to their strengths and capacities, potentially fostering substantial growth and securing long-term government contracts.
