Summary of the contracting process

The Ministry of Defence, located in Andover, United Kingdom, is currently in the planning stage for the British Army Training Unit Kenya (BATUK) MEDEVAC, Emergency Response, and Aviation Support Contract. This procurement falls under the services category and focuses on critical emergency and medical aviation support in Kenya. Key upcoming events include an industry briefing day on 8th December 2025, conducted via Microsoft Teams, and a request for information (RFI) from 15th December 2025 to 30th January 2026, both accessible through the Defence Sourcing Portal. The project's estimated value is £151 million, with services expected to commence from 1st November 2027, running through 30th November 2037. This initiative is part of a broader effort to ensure the safety and operational capability of British military exercises conducted in Kenya.

The procurement offers significant opportunities for businesses within the air transport and medical service industries, particularly those capable of providing medical evacuation, ambulance services, and aviation support. With an expected contract value exceeding £130 million, this could be a substantial opportunity for SMEs specialising in these sectors, especially those already engaged in supporting military operations or emergency response. Given the scope and complexity of the requirements, firms with robust safety and operational capabilities will find this tender suitable to leverage their expertise for sustained business growth within the defence sector.
