Summary of the contracting process

The Ministry of Defence (MOD) in the United Kingdom is conducting a new procurement process for the provision of British Army Training Unit Kenya (BATUK) MEDEVAC and Aviation Support services. This initiative focuses on providing support in Kenya and is currently in the planning update stage. Interested suppliers are invited to submit responses to a Request for Information (RFI) by 30 January 2026, with an industry briefing scheduled for 6 January 2026. The final date for clarification questions is 20 January 2026, and these should be sent via the Defence Sourcing Portal. This procurement falls under the service category and involves extensive logistics and operational support, including medical evacuation and safe operating environment services, anticipated to commence in November 2027 for a ten-year period. The gross value of the contract is GBP 151,000,000.

This procurement presents an opportunity for SMEs and organisations with experience in air transport services, as well as support helicopters and aviation operations, to engage with the MOD. Companies with capabilities in medical evacuation, aerial firefighting, and maintaining a safe operating environment for military personnel will find this tender aligns well with their expertise. Furthermore, participation in the preliminary market engagement allows businesses to influence the development of procurement strategies and requirements, paving the way for competitive positioning in future formal tender processes. This approach ensures a level playing field for all and provides a strategic engagement for businesses looking to expand their operations in co-operation with the public sector.
